No. Families will have a variety of quality online school options that match their interests and meet their needs.

Can a student enroll in LAUSD's Virtual Academy with an inter-district permit?
Virtual Academy enrollment priority will be given to resident LAUSD students. Families requesting an incoming inter-district permit should be aware that requests are pending until all LAUSD resident students who choose the Virtual Academy are enrolled. Students should not check out of their current school/District of Residence until final approval has been granted. Families may also want to contact their District of Residence to learn what independent study options are available through their district.

Can I enroll my child who has an IEP?
For students with special needs, participation in independent study is determined by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team. Please contact your child’s current school or school of residence for more information about this process.
-
If my child has an IEP, will they still receive their services like speech and resource support?
Yes. Students with related services identified in their IEP will receive these services in-person at an LAUSD location or online as determined by the IEP team.
-
How are Related Services determined for students attending the Virtual Academy?
As part of the IEP meeting for determining placement, IEP teams including all relevant related services providers will also determine how related services may be provided to students attending the Virtual Academy. Students with related services identified in their IEP may receive services in-person at an LAUSD location or virtually, as appropriate and as determined by the IEP team.
