  • Transportation Transportation

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 2004 (IDEA) conveys to the IEP team the authority to determine if transportation is necessary for a student to receive Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE). In making this determination the IEP team must consider:

    (1) the needs of the student; and
    (2) the least restrictive form of transportation appropriate for the student.

Transportation is provided as a related service for students with disabilities if a student is placed by the District at a school other than their school of residence or a student’s disability prohibits them from getting to school in the same manner as their non-disabled peers. This includes the following types of transportation services:

√ School to School
√ Home to School

Parents may contact their child’s current school of attendance to discuss transportation service options with an IEP team or to discuss modifications to an existing transportation service.

Parents may contact SESC Operations at (213) 241-6701 with questions pertaining to their child's transportation service.
Parents may also refer to the Internet icon Transportation Services Branch, and contact 1-800-LA-BUSES (1-800-522-8737)
